Composting at JES

Yes, we did it. Today was our first day of composting in the lunch room. Students did a great job.
Now all our food scraps will go to make compost!  We are so proud of ourselves.

Our School Wide Behavior Plan

We are in the third year of implementing our school wide behavior plan based on the principles of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). In our plan, we have three levels of support.
At the first level or the universal level, we have systems in place to support most of our students. These supports include teaching the school rules and routines, recognizing positive behaviors with specific praise, correcting behavior errors and teaching skills for learning. During the first six weeks of school, students are learning the school rules and expectations. Our school rules are: Respect Self, Respect Others, Respect Property and Enjoy Learning Together.

What a great beginning to school. Students are excited and glad to be back at school.  Students are learning our school rules and all the routines of their new classrooms. The rules are:

Kindergarten Orientation

We welcomed our new kindergarten students yesterday.  We have 53 new kindergarten students. 

They arrived by bus and got to spend time with their new classmates. 

Kindergarten Orientation

On Thursday, August 23rd, our new kindergarten students and their parents will be attending our kindergarten orientation. Families will arrive at 8:30 by bus. Orientation continues until 10:00.
We are looking forward to our first day with our new JES students.

School Begins

Just wanted to remind folks that our first day of school is August 29, 2012. I am heading to a leadership conference this week and will be back in the office on August 6, 2012.

The painting is done and the carpet has been laid. We just need to put the books back in!
